Miyako Islands

Located about 300 km southwest of the main island, the Miyako archipelago is famous for its sugar‑white beaches and turquoise seas. Highlights include Yonaha Maehama Beach on Miyako Island and the bridges connecting to Kurima and Ikema islands. The region is also known for diving spots like Irabu and the German Channel. This group is less developed than the main island, offering a relaxed atmosphere.

Use Miyako’s airport as your gateway; flights from Naha and Tokyo operate regularly. Rent a car or bicycle to explore at your own pace, and savour local delicacies such as benimo sweet potato tarts.
